Fast-Moving Goods (FMCG)

Selective Pallet Racking System

For FMCG warehouses, Selective pallet racking is the most suitable choice. This system is designed to accommodate a wide variety of products, including items with short shelf lives that require precise control. Additionally, it supports high and continuous rates of import and export due to the large volume of consumer goods. In this racking system, each pallet is stored in a separate location, ensuring no interference with others. It offers 100% direct access to each item, and wide aisles facilitate easy movement for forklifts. These features make Selective racking an excellent fit for meeting your needs.

VNA Pallet Racking System

For high-ceiling warehouses, VNA racking is an excellent option to enhance storage capacity. It can reach heights of up to 17 meters and features narrower aisles, which can boost storage capacity by up to 40% compared to Selective racking. This system allows for storing more products while still providing 100% direct access to each item.

Although the speed of loading and unloading may be reduced due to the narrower aisles, this is usually manageable for most warehouses. However, it’s important to consider the high cost of the specialized reach trucks needed for this system.

Double Deep Racking System

The Double Deep racking system features two racks set up back-to-back, which reduces the number of aisles and increases storage capacity. However, this design limits direct access to goods to only 50%, as retrieving items requires moving products stored in front first. This can impact the speed of freight movement within the warehouse.

Despite its limited access, Double Deep racking is effective for addressing storage challenges, particularly in warehouses with limited space but a high volume of products. It is important to carefully evaluate and consider this racking system before making a decision.

AS/RS

AS/RS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) is an automated storage solution that uses software and robots to handle loading and unloading, maximizing warehouse productivity. Managed by advanced software, it also helps reduce the risk of theft, which is a common issue in large warehouses. This system is ideal for very large warehouses that require high-speed transportation.

The main drawback of AS/RS is the substantial capital investment required, which can be a major barrier for many businesses. However, once implemented, it offers significant advantages, including substantial savings on labour and warehouse management costs.

Longspan Shelving

The previously discussed racking systems are suited for medium to large warehouses. For smaller warehouses, longspan shelving system is a better option. It retains the features of selective pallet racking but is designed for lighter loads. Suitable for storing small, lightweight items that don't require pallets, this system allows for manual loading and unloading or use of a rolling ladder.

Longspan shelving is often used by small distributors and retailers due to their low investment cost, making it easy to equip your warehouse with this type of racking.
