Cold Storage

Drive In Pallet Racking System

Drive-In pallet racking is a preferred solution for numerous companies. With reduced aisles, this system dramatically boosts storage density, allowing businesses to utilize 70% to 80% of their warehouse space. Forklifts can drive directly into the racks to load and retrieve goods. Its combination of multiple benefits and low setup costs makes Drive-In pallet racking an excellent choice.

However, its biggest limitation is the restricted access to individual goods, making it ideal for storing uniform items. Additionally, as forklifts operate within the racks, skilled drivers are necessary to minimize the risk of collisions, particularly in cold storage settings.

Double Deep Pallet Racking System

Cold storage facilities often need to store multiple types of products, making Drive-In racking not the most suitable option in all situations. For such cases, Double Deep pallet racking offers a highly effective solution. This system is designed with additional aisles, allowing for direct access to up to 50% of the stored goods.

While the storage density is lower compared to drive-in racking, double deep racking allows for storing a wider variety of items. Additionally, the loading and unloading process is faster, making it ideal for warehouses that require frequent and continuous movement of goods. However, double deep racking in cold storage requires specialized forklifts to retrieve items stored deeper within the system.

VNA Pallet Racking System

The VNA racking system is an ideal choice for cold storage facilities with tall ceilings, with a maximum height reaching up to 17 meters. Additionally, the narrow aisle width increases storage capacity, offering up to 100% direct access to goods.

However, the main drawback of the VNA system is the requirement for a specialized forklift (reach truck) designed for high-reaching tasks and operating in narrow spaces. The investment cost for this equipment is quite high, so it's important to carefully evaluate expenses before opting for this system.

Radio Shuttle Pallet Racking System

Radio shuttle is a semi-automated storage system, similar to drive-in racking but with rails and shuttle cars. These cars move products in and out of the racks, eliminating the need for forklifts to enter and reducing collision risks. It also speeds up loading and unloading.

A major benefit is its flexibility, allowing easy switching between FIFO and LIFO, making inventory management simpler.

While the initial cost is high, using one or a few shuttle cars for the entire system can help lower expenses, making this solution affordable for businesses.
